Tushar Banerjee

Music Producer | Drummer – Somlata and The Aces

Tushar Banerjee is a music producer and drummer based in Kolkata, currently performing with Somlata and The Aces. His musical journey began in 2004, when a fascination with rhythm evolved from playing pots and pans into a lifelong dedication to percussion. In 2005, he co-founded Nitric Dreams, one of Kolkata’s pioneering metal bands known for their complex compositions and odd time signatures. The group became a cornerstone of the city’s early metal movement. Around the same time, Tushar co-founded Naktala Metal Pally, organizing Kolkata’s first-ever underground metal concert in 2007, which received widespread acclaim from both audiences and the media. Afterward, Tushar broadened his musical scope through rock, funk, and Latin influences before joining the legendary fusion band Krosswindz in 2011. With them, he toured across India, represented India on a Southeast Asia Tour (2015) under the Indian Embassy, and toured Europe (2017) with performances in Amsterdam, Cardiff, and Southampton. In 2019, Tushar became the drummer for Somlata and The Aces, one of India’s leading live acts led by popular playback singer Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury. The band’s sound blends Indian semi-classical, pop-rock, film, folk fusion, and Sufi influences. With the band, he has performed extensively across India, as well as internationally in Australia, Canada, Singapore, and other regions.
