Versatile, powerful, and deeply musical, Mamoia Colney — is one of Mizoram’s most recognized drummers. Owner of Probeats Music school and Instructor of Probeats Drum Dept! Known for his explosive stage energy and dynamic versatility, Mamoia has been shaping the sound of modern drumming in Northeast India for over 16 years. As the drummer for The Prophets, Mamoia drives the band’s progressive metal sound with intricate precision and creative flair. Beyond that, he brings his rhythmic touch to projects like Sound From The Hills and Zoramchhani Band, exploring diverse styles such as funk fusion, neo-funk, and gospel chops.
Mamoia’s career highlights include winning Shirock 2022, becoming runners-up at Hornbill 2024, and earning the Best Drummer Award at the Rocka Rolla Music Awards — accomplishments that mark his growing influence in the regional and national music scene.
A passionate advocate of Roland innovation, Mamoia currently performs and records using the Roland TD-17KVX V-Drums kit.
“This thing is a beast — incredibly responsive, powerful, and so user-friendly. I even recorded our entire album using it,” Mamoia says.
Influenced by Dream Theater and iconic bands from the ’80s and ’90s, as well as drumming legends like Aaron Spears, Stix Taylor, and Anika Nilles, Mamoia continues to evolve his sound, blending technical mastery with soulful expression.
